All Prima Power eP series press brakes are fully electric and feature dual servomotors to apply the bending force, which distributes evenly across the upper beam. This system, in combination with the stable O-frame design, provides for excellent accuracy, and very high repeatability and bending performance. The machines also benefit from much lower energy usage over conventional hydraulic models thanks to the servo-electric drives that only use power when in motion. In addition, the absence of hydraulics results in far lower maintenance, eliminating the need for the regular replacement of filters, seals and oils. Such green credentials are highly relevant in industry today. Alongside the current high costs for energy and fuel, clean and efficient machines with low running costs are of paramount importance. “We wanted machines that were not only quick, but economical,” says Mr Dale. “We could foresee energy costs becoming significant. Furthermore, we’re located in the middle of a town and are a little restricted on how much energy we can consume, so we have to use it wisely. The energy-efficiency of the Prima Power machines was a big attraction. Put simply, now

that we’ve experienced these technologies, we would never go back.” There are many factors that set this progressive manufacturing business apart from its competitors, not least its ability to produce thin-sheet (0.6 to 2.0 mm), fine-limit components, and its willingness to meet demand for short lead-time deliveries. Here, Dale Sheetmetal’s ongoing investment strategy is paying dividends. The company’s new Prima Power machines run 12 hours a day. “This was a major investment for a family business, especially just coming out of the pandemic,” concludes Mr Dale. “However, we could see opportunities out there and knew we must be set well in order to take advantage. Business is currently very buoyant, so we’re already looking to expand with more investment in 2023. Prima Power can expect a call.” n
