COMPLETE KNOW- HOW IN ONE PART MAPAL has developed two innovative sample components specifically for the aerospace industry. These “generic components” are engineered to represent all critical and complex machining steps required in the production of aerospace parts, such as hydraulic valve housings made from aluminium or torsion links for landing gear milled from titanium.

Wherever movement is needed on an aircraft, valve housings play a key role. Flaps, rudders, landing gear, engines, and other systems are typically powered by hydraulics. Every aircraft includes numerous valve housings, varying in design from compact units to blocks half a meter in size. Yet, the machining processes involved remain largely similar.

The valve housing generic component designed by MAPAL measures approximately 30 x 30 x 30 centimetres. It incorporates every machining step required in the production process, from pre-machining to finishing operations. Rather than mimicking a customer- specific part, this component is engineered based on the combined machining demands of
